Our partners are members of the American and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants. From our inception we have served as instructors for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for a variety of accounting, auditing and tax topics.
Barbacane, Thornton & Company is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Governmental Audit Quality Center. The Governmental Audit Quality Center (GAQC) promotes the importance of quality governmental audits and the value of such audits to purchasers of governmental audit services. GAQC is a voluntary membership center for CPA firms and state audit organizations that performs governmental audits and assures compliance in maintaining quality of auditing standards application in member firms. We underwent and successfully completed our Peer Review in May 2017.

We use advanced auditing concepts, approaches and techniques to meet quality auditing standards in conducting audits. Our review of the system of internal control is designed to identify potential weaknesses in an organization’s accounting system. Our audit program for transactions specifies the audit procedures and detailed tests that are needed.

The firm is a founding member of CPAsNet, a consortium of independent accounting firms. CPAsNet members collectively provide services to over 500 not-for-profit and governmental organizations. Member firms represent more than 100 partners, 300 professional associates and 500 employees located in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States. This collaborative association provides the firm with additional resources to bring cutting-edge insight to the management of our clients.
